LIVERPOOL, England (AP) - What could be better after a hard day's sightseeing? Visitors to Liverpool, birthplace of the Beatles, can rest their heads in the Lennon or McCartney suites at the Fab Four-themed Hard Days Night Hotel that opened Friday.

More than 45 years after John, Paul, George and Ringo emerged from Liverpool's tiny, sweaty clubs to conquer the world, the Beatles industry is key to this battered-but-proud city's attempt to transform itself from fading commercial hub to thriving cultural hotbed. The 110-room Hard Days Night Hotel hopes to be its newest attraction. ''It's stunning, spectacular,'' said Julia Baird, John Lennon's half-sister, after being shown around the $1,300-a-night penthouse suite named for her brother. ''It's like Liverpool. Outside it hasn't changed, but inside there's rocketing change.''

Spoken word is a form of literary art or artistic performance in which lyrics, poetry, or stories are spoken rather than sung. Spoken-word is often done with a musical background, but emphasis is kept on the speaker.
One of the most common sorts of spoken word performances is performance poetry, where a poet either reads previously-published poems, or reads poems specifically written to be performed aloud. Another kind that has gained popularity in recent years is political and social commentary, done in such a way that it is, while still prose, somewhat more artistic than a typical speech. Spoken word artists are often poets and musicians. Spoken word gained notoriety in the late 1980s and early 1990s through the emergence of "poetry slams," where spoken word artists would square off in cabaret-style duels.

Только вернулся из поездки Saratoga Springs - Lake George-Boston.
Дико понравилось на Lake George - (upstate NY, приблизительно в 3-4 часах езды от Бостона и Нью-Йорка).

Lake George is quite possibly the busiest lake in the Adirondacks. At 32 miles long, it is a summer vacationland for millions. There are many opportunities for primitive camping, both on islands and the shoreline, and these may be reserved online through ParkNet. However, despite the use, the lake remains very scenic. It is beautifully nestled amongst mountains on all sides: Black Mt. and Buck Mt. on the east, and the Tongue Mountain Range on much of the west. The photos shown here are both of the Narrows, a group of state-owned islands with many camping opportunities.

Living history events depict the areas involvement during the 1754-1767 French and Indian War. This brutal conflict was romanticized in James Fenimore Cooper’s 1826 novel "The Last of the Mohicans,"
Set during the French and Indian War, the novel chronicles the massacre of the colonial garrison at Fort William Henry
and a fictional kidnapping of the pioneer sisters. The author incorporated the actual historically correct conflict sites as well as other recognizable locations throughout the area such as Cooper’s Cave in Glens Falls which was the site of the famous waterfalls scene.
There has been three feature film adaptations, the most recent in 1992.

Летние игры "Что? Где? Когда?" 2007 года будут состоять из трех отборочных игр и финала.
За право играть в финале будут бороться три команды элитарного клуба: команда Вячеслава Белова, команда Балаша Касумова и команда магистра игры "Что? Где? Когда?" Максима Поташева.

18 мая. Первая отборочная игра. Команда Вячеслава Белова.
Ровно год назад состоялся дебют этой молодежной команды в элитарном клубе. Пока на счету команды одна победа и одно поражение. В составе команды студенты и выпускники московских и петербургских ВУЗов: Мария Баранчикова, Евгений Куприянов, Владимир Цой, Артем Гордин, Тимур Мухаматуллин. Капитан команды - Вячеслав Белов.

25 мая. Вторая отборочная игра. Команда Балаша Касумова.
В этой команде объединились игроки из разных городов: Елизавета Овдеенко представляет Одессу, Юлия Лазарева - Москву, Владимир Антохин - поселок Красково Московской области, Дмитрий Авдеенко - Баку, Михаил Скипский - Санкт-Петербург, Балаш Касумов - Баку.

1 июня. Третья отборочная игра. Команда Максима Поташева.
Состав команды: Михаил Мун, Леонид Тимофеев, Владимир Степанов, Сергей Вакуленко, Елена Александрова и Максим Поташев.

8 июня - финал летней серии игр.

Летние игры "Что? Где? Когда?" традиционно пройдут в прямом эфире на Первом канале.
